Winter support for residents facing cost pressures
Wolverhampton City Council has announced expanded help with food, money advice and heating costs for residents struggling with living costs this winter. The measures accompany a new three-year financial wellbeing strategy and aim to support vulnerable people as household bills remain difficult to manage.
New community shops are planned for Pendeford and Graiseley, while Bilston’s shop will reopen; about 17,000 people have used the city’s community shops in six months. The council says more than 135,000 people have received cost-of-living support and over £18.5m has been distributed. Food redistribution and school cooking programmes will expand, and the Boost budgeting service will offer more support.
