Wispr Flow, best known for its AI-powered dictation app, has officially launched a meeting notetaker for Mac, moving it into direct competition with established tools such as Granola, Fireflies, Read AI, Otter and Fathom. Like Granola, the feature transcribes meetings using system audio rather than joining calls directly, and uses AI to clean up transcripts, generate action items and summaries, and answer questions across a user's meeting history. The move signals the startup's ambition to grow beyond dictation into a broader AI assistant, as previously hinted by co-founder Tanay Kothari, giving it richer context on users' work and scope to automate more tasks.

The launch follows TechCrunch's earlier discovery that Wispr Flow had quietly updated its Terms of Service and privacy policy to cover "Meeting Data", including audio, transcripts, speaker labels and AI-generated insights, before the feature went live. Wispr Flow has raised more than $81 million to date and was valued at $700 million in its last funding round; Bloomberg reported in May that the company was in talks for a new round that would value it at $2 billion. The company did not respond to TechCrunch's request for comment.
