Whilst Gann's deception was wrong and her expulsion appropriate, whether this constitutes evidence of systemic vulnerability in activism deserves scrutiny. One individual's serious moral failure need not indicate a widespread pattern justifying heightened suspicion across activist spaces. The distinction between appropriate internal accountability and potentially disproportionate public scandal, and between warning of systemic problems and understanding what drove her behaviour, merits consideration.
