London band World News have announced their debut album, "In Purgatory", due for release in October on the label Pie & Mash. The announcement comes alongside a new song and video, "The Way It Goes", continuing a run of well-received singles that has built anticipation for the group's first full-length record.

The 11-track album is out on 16 October and includes previously released singles "Sidestep", "Everything Is Coming Up Roses" and "Don't Want To Know". Frontman Alex Evans said "The Way It Goes" was largely written and demoed back in 2020, with lyrics drawn from loose phrases and feelings rather than a narrative; the album mixes older material like this with songs written just weeks or days before recording. The accompanying video was directed by Pablo Rossano.
