WoW Forever launched yesterday, and it went… fine?
World of Warcraft Forever launched with few problems, despite high interest following a beta that saw more than eight million characters created. The smooth start matters because players expected a crowded, unreliable launch for the popular throwback MMO.
A ruleset selection problem affected players during roughly the first hour, but Blizzard resolved it quickly. Players reported short queues and no lag or crashes, while some found the game world quieter than expected because the game spread players across separate instances to ease congestion. A substantial pre-launch patch also updated every class and improved controller support.
In short
- WoW Forever had a largely smooth launch.
- More than eight million characters were created in beta.
- A brief ruleset issue was fixed quickly.
