He competed on the very first Triplemania card back in 1993, and his return to the promotion in a leadership role comes as AAA, now part of WWE, stages its first-ever two-night Triplemania event across two countries.

Mysterio is set to face 7-foot-3 giant Omos on Friday night in Las Vegas, the culmination of a feud sparked after Omos injured Galeno and attacked Mysterio in August before being suspended, then assaulting him again with help from Dominik Mysterio. Mysterio said he is unfazed by the size mismatch, citing a career spent facing bigger opponents since childhood, and framed the bout as a chance to assert his authority as GM. If he loses, Omos will be reinstated to the AAA roster; if he wins, Omos will be banned from AAA for good. Triplemania 34 Night 1 takes place at Las Vegas's MGM Garden Arena on Friday, with Night 2 following on Sunday at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, both streamed on YouTube from 10 p.m. ET.
