SpaceXSI has introduced X Subscription, a membership that brings together access to Grok, coding platform Cursor and X Premium features. The bundle gives individuals and teams a choice of monthly tiers, with higher-priced plans offering more tools and usage.

The individual plans cost $8 for Plus, $30 for Premium, $100 for Super and $200 for Ultra. Plus includes Grok tools, Cursor for coding and selected X Premium features; Premium adds Grok Bot, newer models, image and video generation, and expanded Cursor and X features. Super offers priority access to Grok models at peak times, while Ultra provides the earliest access to products and models and 20 times Plus’s usage capacity; enterprise customers can request customised plans.

New here? Start with this

X, the social media platform, owns several products including Grok, an artificial intelligence assistant, and Cursor, a coding platform. The company has combined these tools with X Premium features into a single subscription service. Users can now access multiple products through one membership instead of paying for them separately.

The X Subscription offers four pricing tiers from $8 to $200 per month. Each tier provides a different combination of features, with lower tiers including Grok's conversational AI, coding tools and X Premium access, and higher tiers adding video generation and earlier access to new features. Enterprise and team customers can also negotiate custom packages.

This changes how subscribers access the company's services and their costs. Those who use multiple products can consolidate them under one subscription, whilst those using only one tool may not need all the included features. The bundling affects anyone currently using X Premium, Grok or Cursor.

Both sides, in good faith

The strongest fair case each way — we don't pick a winner.

The case for

The company's bundling strategy offers genuine consumer benefits through convenience and seamless integration between complementary services—users gain a unified account and billing system rather than juggling multiple subscriptions. A tiered pricing structure allows customers to select features matching their needs, from basic access to enterprise solutions. Bundling also enables deeper product integration and network effects that standalone services cannot achieve.

The case against

Critics raise legitimate concerns that bundling reduces consumer choice by forcing users to purchase services they may not want, potentially increasing overall costs and creating switching barriers. When a dominant platform bundles offerings across different product categories, smaller competitors face unfair disadvantages, and users become locked into the ecosystem even if they prefer alternatives. This reduced competitive pressure can slow innovation and limit consumer welfare.
