Xbox reportedly planning three more rounds of layoffs, with the first wave coming as early as this month
Xbox may make three further rounds of job cuts in October, November and January 2027 as it seeks to reduce costs and return its gaming division to profitability. The reported schedule would extend a restructuring that has already removed thousands of roles, though sources cautioned that the plans could change.
A September round eliminated 268 jobs and reorganised some studios, following more than 1,600 cuts in July. The remaining planned reductions are expected across future quarters, but the report does not identify which teams may be affected; staff at The Coalition have reportedly voiced concerns after the release of Gears of War: E-Day. The same report says Xbox estimates its next-generation Helix consoles could cost $1,200 to $1,800.
