World champion Wu Yize eased into the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters with a 6-2 win over compatriot Si Jiahui, setting up a repeat of this year's World Championship final against Shaun Murphy. It was Yize's first match of the season, and the victory continued his strong recent form after he became the second-youngest player to win the world title.

Yize led 3-0 before Si fought back to level at 3-2, but the 22-year-old responded with three centuries, breaks of 108 and 140 twice, to win the last three frames. Murphy reached the last eight by beating Zhou Yuelong 6-5, sealing it with a 65 in the decider. Elsewhere, 2025 world champion Zhao Xintong also made three centuries in a 6-2 win over Ding Junhui and will face Neil Robertson next, while four-time world champion John Higgins edged Jack Lisowski 6-5 to set up a quarter-final against Judd Trump.
