The reported plan would transfer police weapons to the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, a technocratic body backed by the United States, as it enters the territory. Disarmament has been a central obstacle in negotiations over the ceasefire’s next phase, alongside Israeli withdrawal, humanitarian aid and Gaza’s reconstruction; the agreement would also cover other armed groups.
