60th Anniversary Star Trek Doc With William Shatner Beaming Down To Regal Cinemas In October
A new documentary marking Star Trek’s 60th anniversary, The Sixty-Year Mission: How Star Trek Changed Television And The World, will be released in US Regal cinemas on 9 October. The film aims to examine how the original television series was made and why it became a lasting cultural influence, with cinema Q&As planned with franchise figures.
William Shatner executive-produces and appears alongside fellow original-series actors Walter Koenig and George Takei. Writer-director Mark A. Altman, author of Star Trek oral history The Fifty-Year Mission, made the film with producer Michael S. Broder; it also includes interviews with creatives, critics and actors from later Trek series, plus archive material.
