Democratic Socialist-backed candidate Oliver Larkin is challenging Democratic Representative Jared Moskowitz in Florida’s 25th Congressional District primary. The contest is presented as a test of whether recent left-wing primary successes can extend into competitive seats, potentially affecting Democrats’ prospects of retaking the House.

Larkin, 33, supports abolishing the US Senate, ending US military aid to Israel and enforcing the International Criminal Court warrant against Benjamin Netanyahu. Moskowitz, a two-term congressman backed by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, leads Larkin in polling and fundraising; the redrawn Broward County-based district is in Republican-leaning Florida and is among roughly two dozen seats considered important to control of the House.
