Chris Gotterup celebrates Team USA Presidents Cup selection with epic pro-America video
American golfer Chris Gotterup celebrated being named to his first Presidents Cup team by posting a video montage celebrating American culture, after being selected as one of six captain's picks by US skipper Brandt Snedeker. The 27-year-old had finished seventh in the Team USA standings, narrowly missing the automatic qualifying spots, but his strong 2026 season made him a widely expected choice for the tournament, which takes place at Medinah Country Club near Chicago from 24 September.
Gotterup won three PGA Tour events in 2026, a tally matched by only three other players, along with two further top-five finishes. He is one of three debutants on the US side, alongside Jacob Bridgeman and Jackson Koivun, while the International team, captained by Geoff Ogilvy, also includes three first-timers in Ryo Hisatsune, Nick Taylor and Nico Echavarria. The United States enter as strong favourites, chasing an 11th consecutive Presidents Cup win, with the International side having managed just one victory in the event's history, in 1998, plus a tie in 2003.
