Deliver packages in foresty mountains and avoid thieving boars in the Death Stranding-adjacent and quite calm-looking Pinetrail
Rock Paper Shotgun has spotlighted Pinetrail, an upcoming delivery game likened to a calmer, less apocalyptic cousin of Death Stranding. Rather than trekking on foot with packages strapped to your back, players drive a small three-wheeled rickshaw truck through forests and mountains, loading and roping down deliveries in the truck bed instead. The comparison matters for fans of Kojima's genre-defining "walking simulator" delivery mechanics, as Pinetrail looks to offer a similar core loop with a more relaxed, whimsical tone and none of the original's eerie supernatural threats.
Despite the calmer vibe, the terrain remains a genuine obstacle, with no proper roads, steep hills, falling rocks and boars that steal packages posing the main hazards, while excessive jostling can snap the rope securing your cargo. The truck itself is surprisingly versatile, able to sprout wings to glide across the landscape, deploy a hookshot to scale steep paths, and switch to a boat mode for travelling along rivers. Players earn money and must hit delivery targets, though what these rewards unlock is not yet clear. Pinetrail has no fixed release date but is slated for a Q2 2027 window and can currently be wishlisted on Steam.
