‘Remain’ Trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal‘s Tate Mourns Phoebe Dynevor’s Wren In Supernatural Love Story

Deadline · 3 hours ago

Warner Bros. has released the trailer for "Remain," a supernatural romance adapting the bestselling novel co-written by director M. Night Shyamalan and Nicholas Sparks. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Tate Gordon, a reclusive architect who relocates to a small Cape Cod town to complete a project, where he falls for a mysterious woman played by Phoebe Dynevor, only to uncover a deadly mystery entangling the town and their relationship.

The trailer shows Tate and Wren (Dynevor) bonding before it becomes apparent something otherworldly is separating them, culminating in a scene where Tate switches on a bathroom light only to find it empty. Tate's character arrives in Cape Cod after treatment for depression following the death of his sister, who could see spirits, and he must uncover the truth about Wren's past to save her from a grim fate. The film, also starring Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty and Jay O. Sanders, was originally due out on 23 October 2026 but has been pushed to 5 February 2027 in North America and 3 February internationally.
