DC Comics writer Scott Snyder has confirmed that a major time jump is coming to Absolute Batman, the acclaimed reimagining of the Dark Knight that has drawn comparisons to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. The announcement, made during a panel at Fan Expo Chicago in August, signals the start of a new creative era for the series, though Snyder has not yet specified whether the jump will span weeks, months or years.

The Absolute Universe line launched in 2024, reimagining Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman with radically different origins; in this version, Bruce Wayne is a working-class engineer rather than a billionaire, with no Wayne Manor or Alfred. As of September 2026, 23 issues have been published, with Barbara Gordon set to debut as a vigilante called "The Bat" in issue #24 and the "Straw Man" arc concluding in an oversized issue #25. Artist Nick Dragotta will then step away temporarily, with issues #26 and #27 serving as transitional stories covering Gordon's origin and a Joker-Clayface plot, before Snyder and Dragotta reunite for issue #28, by which point Gotham will have undergone significant changes.
