The remains of Joanne Sheen, a 44-year-old mother of three who disappeared from Southampton nearly seven years ago, have been found in Feltham, south-west London, after a wildfire exposed bones near shrubland. Police are treating her death as murder and have arrested a 56-year-old Southampton man on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

Sheen was last seen on 5 December 2019 after travelling from Fareham towards Southampton and was reported missing in February 2020. Investigators pursued more than 4,000 lines of inquiry, took over 300 statements and searched numerous addresses, waterways and vessels; previous arrests in 2020 resulted in no further action. DNA testing and forensic examination identified the remains, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary is now leading the investigation with the Metropolitan Police.
