Chilling moment 18-year-old runs for his life but is stabbed to death by gang of thugs before one killer flees to Pakistan

Michael Ababio, an 18-year-old from Coventry, was stabbed to death in February after being chased by a gang of four teenagers. CCTV footage captured him running through the city attempting to escape his attackers, who pursued him on foot and e-bikes before cornering him outside a library and fatally stabbing him. The case highlighted the severity of premeditated gang violence in the UK, with police noting the deliberate nature of the attack and the lengths the perpetrators went to avoid arrest.

Following trial at Warwick Crown Court, Ismail Nabeel, 18, was found guilty of murder despite initially admitting only manslaughter, whilst a 17-year-old pleaded guilty to murder. Mahad Mohammed, 19, and Shakeel Ahmed, 18, both admitted to manslaughter. One gang member attempted to flee to Pakistan to evade arrest whilst others tried to evade detection. Another 19-year-old victim was stabbed in the incident but survived. The four defendants are due to be sentenced in October.
