The Savannah College of Art and Design is honouring Julianne Moore with its Icon Award at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, with her latest film "The Debut"—a musical comedy written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg—serving as the festival's centrepiece selection. This recognition caps off a remarkable year for Moore, following the announcement that Helen Mirren's "A Talent for Murder" will open the festival.

Moore's illustrious career includes an Academy Award for Best Actress for "Still Alice" (which also earned her a Golden Globe and BAFTA), an Emmy for portraying Sarah Palin in "Game Change," and four additional Oscar nominations; she is notably the first American woman to win top acting honours at the Venice, Berlin and Cannes film festivals, winning for "The Hours," "Far from Heaven" and "Maps to the Stars" respectively. "The Debut," which also stars Paul Giamatti, Halle Bailey and Bernadette Peters, reunites Moore with Eisenberg after his 2022 directorial debut and received positive receptions at premieres in Telluride and Toronto, with the festival running 24–31 October.
