Richarlison scores for Spurs Under-21s in EFL Trophy

BBC Sport ·

Richarlison scored for Tottenham’s Under-21s in a 7-6 penalty shootout defeat by Cheltenham Town in the EFL Trophy. The appearance comes as the striker remains outside Spurs’ plans for the Premier League season.

The 29-year-old Brazil international’s proposed moves to Everton and Vasco da Gama fell through this summer, and he was left out of Tottenham’s 25-man league squad. His only senior outing this season was in the 3-0 defeat at Brentford in August. Against Cheltenham, George Miller opened the scoring before Richarlison equalised with a first-time finish; Miracle Adewole then put Spurs ahead, but Miller scored in stoppage time and Cheltenham won the shootout.
