Tilda Swinton to Star Off-Broadway In Solo Show ‘Man to Man’
Tilda Swinton will make her New York stage debut this winter in a solo revival of Manfred Karge’s Man to Man, returning to a role she first played in 1987. The production’s limited Off-Broadway run brings the play to New York after its current engagement at London’s Royal Court Theatre and matters as Swinton’s first return to the stage since the original production.
The show begins at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on 21 February 2027, with opening night on 28 February, for eight weeks. Set in 1930s Germany, it follows a woman who takes on her dead husband’s identity as Ella/Max amid war and dictatorship. The revival also has limited runs planned in Scotland and Germany, and reunites the original creative team, led by director Stephen Unwin.
