Costume Designer Sandy Powell to Present Film London Jarman Award – Film News in Brief
Oscar-winning costume designer Sandy Powell will present the Film London Jarman Award on 24 November and attend as its guest of honour. The award, established in 2008 in memory of filmmaker Derek Jarman, recognises UK-based artist-filmmakers; Powell’s past collaborations and mentorship with Jarman make her a fitting choice.
Powell has also worked with Martin Scorsese, Neil Jordan, Todd Haynes and Yorgos Lanthimos, and won three Academy Awards for costume design. This year’s nominees are Sadia Pineda Hameed, Ilona Sagar, Rhea Storr and Alia Syed. Separately, Molly Shannon has joined the documentary “Summer 2000: The X-Cetra Story” as an executive producer and will moderate a Q&A at its 24 October AFI Fest screening.
