Scots to face All Blacks away in World Cup warm-up

BBC Sport ·

Scotland will play New Zealand in Dunedin in their final match before next year’s Rugby World Cup in Australia. It will be the first time in 27 years that Scotland have faced the All Blacks away, giving Gregor Townsend’s side a major test immediately before the tournament.

Scotland last played an away Test against New Zealand in 2000, losing 48-14 at Eden Park; a planned 2020 match was cancelled during the Covid pandemic. The teams are also due to meet at Murrayfield next month in the Nations Championship, while Scotland will play home and away warm-up fixtures against France. The team has opted for three internationals before the World Cup, rather than the four used ahead of previous tournaments.
