Explained simply
The Billboard Latin Music Awards recognise popular music released across Latin genres, including regional Mexican and Latin pop. They bring together performers, songwriters and record labels, with awards reflecting measures such as sales, streaming and radio play.
Rosalía is a Spanish singer known for blending pop with flamenco influences. Peso Pluma and Tito Double P are Mexican artists associated with corridos tumbados, a modern style rooted in regional Mexican music; Fuerza Regida are another prominent group in that scene. The awards also honour artists’ wider contributions through distinctions such as lifetime achievement and Hall of Fame awards.
The ceremony matters as a high-profile measure of the range and reach of Latin music, from established performers to newer acts and styles. Tributes and reunions also connect current artists with earlier generations of Latin music.
