Instagram brings Edits to desktop to take on CapCut
Developing story first seen 2 hours ago
Instagram is bringing its Edits video-editing app to Mac desktops, giving creators tools for larger and more complex projects. The move puts Edits in more direct competition with CapCut, which has had desktop apps for Mac and Windows since 2021.
The desktop version offers a multi-track timeline, keyframes, audio waveforms, automatic captions in multiple languages, and licensed and royalty-free music and effects. Creators can publish directly to Instagram with tagging and location features, or export watermark-free 4K videos in horizontal or vertical formats. Instagram says more than 50 million creators use the mobile app and plans weekly desktop updates, including work towards editing the same project across desktop and mobile.
