New ‘God of War’ Star Officially Shows Off Stunning Kratos Transformation

Dave Bautista has shared a look at his physical preparation to play Kratos in Prime Video’s God of War series, saying he has gained 20 pounds of muscle for the role. His casting follows Ryan Hurst’s departure after an injury, and the update signals that the long-developed adaptation is moving forward.

The series will begin with the Norse-era story introduced in the 2018 game, rather than adapting Kratos’s earlier battles with the Greek gods. Callum Vinson is set to play Atreus in the first season, alongside Ed Skrein as Baldur and Mandy Patinkin as Odin; Ronald D. Moore is creating the show.
