Amazon refreshes Kindle range with slimmer designs and colour options

Amazon has announced updated entry-level Kindle, Paperwhite and Colorsoft e-readers, with flush-front displays, slimmer designs and new colour options. The range adds aluminium-backed variants and revised colour screens, giving readers more choices in size, finish and features.

The basic 6-inch Kindle is 6.8mm thin, weighs 140g, offers 16GB of storage and is rated for up to six weeks’ use; it starts at $150 in the US. The Paperwhite starts at $200, has 16GB and up to 12 weeks’ battery life, while the Colorsoft starts at $290. Signature editions add aluminium housing and 32GB storage, and Kids versions start at $180. The entry-level models are available now in listed markets including the UK, while the new Paperwhite and Colorsoft are rolling out for preorder.
