Ubisoft among bidders as Xbox weighs sale of Arkane Studios
Arkane Studios may leave Microsoft, with Ubisoft and at least two other gaming companies reportedly bidding to buy it. The possible sale could give the studio a chance to continue working after concerns that Xbox’s layoffs might lead to its closure or the cancellation of its current project.
Xbox told Bloomberg it was exploring options ahead of a December deadline, including a possible sale to Arkane’s own management. The studio is developing a game based on Marvel’s Blade, announced with a cinematic trailer in 2023; Ubisoft has also made several rounds of job cuts this year.
