A 16-year-old gunman killed two students and injured eight others at Banga National High School in the southern Philippines before taking his own life. The attack has heightened concern because it is the country’s third deadly school shooting since June, prompting the suspension of classes across the municipality.

The victims were both 14-year-old pupils, while four of the injured were reportedly in critical condition. Authorities said the gunman had mentioned his intention to friends beforehand, and police are investigating; officials have also urged firearm owners to store weapons securely and prevent minors from accessing them.
