Austrian Director Sandra Wollner’s ‘Everytime’ Wins Best Film at Sarajevo Film Festival

Variety · 3 hours ago

Sandra Wollner's film "Everytime" won the Heart of Sarajevo for best narrative feature at this year's Sarajevo Film Festival, extending its run of acclaim after taking the Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes. The Austrian director's third feature was a unanimous pick by a jury led by two-time Oscar nominee Emily Watson, who praised its "cinematic grace" and described it as a "mesmerically elastic and transcendental grief-soaked ghost story."

The film follows a mother, her young daughter and a teenage boy who, bound together by tragedy, take a holiday to the Canary Islands that never actually happened, blurring past and present. Other honours went to Georgian director Ana Urushadze (best director, for "Supporting Role"), Serbian actress Eva Kostić (best actress, for "17") and Romanian actor Adrian Văncică (best actor, for "You Don't Belong Here"), with the best documentary prize going to Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glo(…).
