Axiom Math uses AI agents to computer-check the Stacks Project
Axiom Math says it has formally verified the Stacks Project, a vast open-source mathematics reference, using AI agents and the Lean proof assistant. The work matters because it gives researchers and future AI systems a computer-checked base of mathematical results, particularly in areas where verified material has been scarce.
Started in 2005, the Stacks Project contains about 7,654 pages covering topics from algebra to advanced geometry and number theory. Axiom translated it into roughly 16 million lines of Lean code, preserving links between results so the proof assistant could check them. The company, founded in March 2025 by Carina Hong, raised a $200 million Series A in March; it says the verified library can support further work in algebraic geometry and eventually help AI agents write software and do science.
In short
