Jessica Gunning, who won widespread acclaim for Baby Reindeer, is set to return to Netflix in "Feral," a darkly comedic thriller series adapted from Shirley Conran's 1987 novel. The move marks her first Netflix project since her breakout role, and the streamer's decision to greenlight another buzzy, character-driven thriller suggests continued confidence in the genre following Baby Reindeer's success.

Gunning is one of four leads in the series, which follows women learning to survive on a dangerous tropical island after their mining executive husbands are kidnapped; she plays Annie, a dutiful wife who has sidelined her own ambitions to raise four sons under a domineering husband. Jude Mack created the show, Emma Freeman is directing, and it is produced by Liza Marshall and Laurie Borg. Gunning swept major awards including an Emmy, Golden Globe and BAFTA for Baby Reindeer, and has since worked on films such as The Christophers and Sunny Dancer, with Anxious People and Berlin Noir also upcoming.
