Explained simply

Baywatch began in 1989 as a drama about lifeguards patrolling the beaches of Los Angeles County. It became widely known internationally, with broadcasts in more than 200 countries, and its familiar red swimsuits and beach rescues became part of its identity.

The new series continues that story through Hobie Buchannon, a lifeguard who has become a captain. His daughter Charlie, whom he did not know about, arrives hoping to join the lifeguards, bringing family life into the centre of the show’s beach-rescue setting.
