Friend told jury Lamarre-Condon claimed he was travelling to save cattle

Daily Mail ·

Beau Lamarre-Condon’s childhood friend told a NSW Supreme Court jury that he said they were travelling to a farm to stop cattle escaping. She said she did not know the trip was allegedly to dispose of the bodies of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies, and believed they were arranging accommodation for a planned European holiday.

The friend, identified in court as Elizabeth Kennedy, said she became annoyed when she realised they were driving about 200 kilometres from Sydney to Bungonia. She testified that Lamarre-Condon said he needed to break into the farm and save the cattle, then cut the gate lock and left her alone for about 40 minutes. Prosecutors allege he took the men’s bodies there after fatally shooting them in Paddington; he denies the murder and break-in charges.

In short

  • Friend says Lamarre-Condon gave a cattle rescue reason for the farm trip.
  • She told the jury she did not know bodies were in the van.
  • He denies two murder charges and a break-in charge.

Explained simply

Beau Lamarre-Condon is a former police officer accused of killing Jesse Baird, a television presenter, and Luke Davies, a flight attendant, in Sydney. Prosecutors allege he later took their bodies to a rural property near Bungonia; he denies the murder and break-in charges.

The case is being heard by a jury in the NSW Supreme Court. Witnesses give evidence for the jury to consider alongside other material, and the jury will decide whether the charges have been proved. The allegations and testimony are not findings of guilt.
