The Tom Holland-led film has now earned $2.4 billion worldwide, making it the third-biggest release ever behind "Avatar" and "Avengers: Endgame". Its dominance capped the strongest cinema summer since the pandemic, with domestic ticket sales reaching $4.73 billion between May and early September, the second-highest total on record. However, the Labor Day weekend itself was notably weak, with new releases "By Any Means" ($7.4 million), "Fall 2: Deadpoint" ($2.3 million) and "Onslaught" all underperforming.
