“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is set to lead the North American box office for a fifth consecutive weekend, despite two new releases arriving in cinemas. “Coyote vs. Acme” opened more strongly than Ridley Scott’s “The Dog Stars”, while Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” and the horror sequel “Insidious: Out of the Further” remained among the leading films.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” took $5.5 million on Friday and is forecast to reach $21 million for the weekend, bringing its domestic total to $890 million. “Coyote vs. Acme” earned an estimated $5.2 million from 3,575 screens and is projected to make $13.5 million by Sunday; “The Dog Stars” made $3 million from 3,330 cinemas and could finish on $7.2 million. “The Odyssey” is expected to reach $564 million domestically, while “Insidious: Out of the Further” is projected to earn $9.32 million in its second weekend, a roughly 60% fall.
