Bullhorn restores recruitment platform after cyber incident caused outage

The Register ·

Bullhorn shut down its recruitment software platform after detecting a cyber incident, disrupting agencies’ access to tools and records used to manage candidates, applications, placements and, in some cases, payroll. Services have returned in the UK, US and Australia, but the outage matters because thousands of organisations rely on the platform and some features are still impaired.

The disruption began on Friday 16 October with problems posting jobs to Indeed, then developed into a wider outage the following day. Bullhorn, which serves more than 10,000 customers worldwide, brought in CrowdStrike to investigate; as of Tuesday, some users still had login, password reset and performance issues. It has not established whether customer data was stolen or whether ransomware was involved, and has asked some users to reset passwords and API customers to rotate credentials.

  • Bullhorn’s cyber incident took its recruitment platform offline.
  • Services are returning, but some features remain impaired.
  • The company has not determined whether customer data was stolen.
