Actress Busy Philipps has given a further update on her recent health scare, saying she feels like the "luckiest girl in the world" for catching both a brain tumour and a subsequent infection early. Speaking to People, the Cougar Town and Freaks and Geeks star reflected on what she called "the weirdest six months" of her life, describing the ordeal that began with a routine full-body MRI in February and continued through two surgeries before she started filming her new CBS series, Cupertino.

Doctors found a grade 2 oligodendroglioma, a rare, slow-growing brain tumour measuring 2.6 centimetres, which was removed in a March operation. While settling into her role as Natalia Boutella on Cupertino, Philipps noticed her incision looked wrong during a dermatologist visit and discovered she had contracted a staphylococcus infection, requiring a second debridement surgery that she said left her feeling "back to square one" and "really, really upset". She said the experience taught her to trust her instincts about her health, adding that "there's nothing to be afraid of in having information".
