Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne has completed a move to Paris St-Germain, returning to the club he first represented over a decade ago after PSG activated an £8.5m release clause in his contract. The 33-year-old France international has signed a three-year deal, ending an eight-year spell in England that began at Everton before he joined Villa in 2022.

Digne previously spent three years with PSG at the start of his career, making 30 appearances before leaving for Barcelona in 2016, and will now provide competition for first-choice left-back Nuno Mendes at a club that has won back-to-back Champions League titles. He departs Villa having helped the club win last season's Europa League, its first trophy since 1996, and becomes the third senior player to leave Villa Park this season after Morgan Rogers (Chelsea) and Youri Tielemans (Manchester United).
