Everybody Needs to Calm Down — Comedian Laura Ramoso Says She Can Help With That

Laura Ramoso says her latest live show, Calm Down, brings together sketch, stand-up, audience participation and clowning, while making her work more personal. Known online for impressions of her Italian father and German mother, she is performing the show in Los Angeles on 17 October, after her biggest US tour so far.

Ramoso says audience participation works best when people feel free to decline, and that she selects participants by observing how they engage with the show. She was raised across several countries, including Cameroon, China and Vietnam, and says sharing more of her own experiences on stage once made her nervous. She describes the show’s title as a motto for a stressful year, though she jokes that it has not helped her calm down.
