A Telegram recruiter advertising callers for an apparent Google Security Team voice-phishing scam barred applicants from reading scripts, while accidentally publishing the exact script they were expected to use. Trellix highlighted the contradiction in its Dark Web Roast series, which mocks criminal activity while stressing that such scams cause serious harm.

The advert sought “USA/CA” callers and instructed them to claim they were contacting victims on behalf of Google’s Account Security Team. The incident comes amid record internet-scam losses of $20.87 billion reported to the FBI for 2025, growing demand for English-language social engineering, and a surge in voice phishing, now reportedly a leading method of gaining access to IT and cloud environments.
