Former Minnesota Vikings captain Jack Brewer has spoken out against Abdul El-Sayed's win in Michigan's Democratic US Senate primary, calling it a "warning shot to America" and warning of the rise of what he termed "radical leftists" in American politics. He contrasted this with his enthusiasm for Michele Tafoya's victory in Minnesota's Republican Senate primary, praising her as a credible conservative voice who could appeal beyond the Republican base in a traditionally Democratic-leaning state.

El-Sayed, a physician and former Detroit public health director, narrowly beat Congresswoman Haley Stevens and will face Republican Mike Rogers in November, running on a progressive platform including Medicare-for-all and higher taxes on billionaires. Tafoya, a former NFL sideline reporter, won her primary with 52.07% of the vote ahead of Adam Schwarze and Royce White, and will face Democratic Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan in the general election; Brewer noted no Republican has won statewide office in Minnesota since 2006, but predicted Tafoya could still attract Democratic and independent voters.
