Gamers go to ridiculous lengths to “improve” GTA VI with Nvidia’s DLSS 5
Some gamers are exploring a way to apply Nvidia’s DLSS 5 image processing to GTA VI on a PlayStation 5, despite the game not yet being available on PC. The proposed setup sends PS5 video through a 4K capture card to a PC, where open-source software processes it before returning it to a television.
A demonstration using the game’s trailer showed sharper backgrounds and altered lighting, but also washed-out colours, a soap opera-like smoothness and occasional visual glitches. The software’s creator claims it adds 11 milliseconds of latency, though the full setup has not been tested with a PS5; players report varying input lag. GTA VI is reportedly expected on PC in early 2027.
In short
- A proposed setup runs PS5 video through a PC to apply DLSS 5.
- The trailer looked sharper in places but had visual drawbacks.
- Added input lag remains uncertain; a PC release is reportedly due in 2027.
