Germany’s Wamser completes move to Man City

BBC Sport · 2 hours ago

Manchester City have signed Germany international full-back Carlotta Wamser from Bayer Leverkusen on a four-year deal, bolstering the Women's Super League champions' defence ahead of their title defence. The 22-year-old, who can play at either left-back or right-back, becomes City's third summer signing after the arrivals of Niamh Charles from Chelsea and Beth Mead from Arsenal, and offers a timely boost given the club's lengthy list of injury absentees.

Wamser had joined Leverkusen from Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer only in July 2025 before making the switch to Manchester. She has 14 caps for Germany, having risen through the underage system and been part of the side that won the Under-17 European Championship in 2019. City, who begin their WSL title defence at home to Birmingham City on Sunday, are currently without several players through injury, including new signing Charles, Grace Clinton, Vivianne Miedema, Jade Rose and Laura Wienroither.
