Google brings Gemini Personal Intelligence to Android Auto

Engadget ·

Google is beginning to bring Gemini Personal Intelligence to Android Auto, allowing the assistant to use information from linked Google apps to give more tailored answers while people drive. The update is intended to make in-car interactions more useful and natural, such as answering travel questions or finding places based on personal preferences.

With Gmail linked, Gemini may answer questions about a flight’s gate or whether it is on time; it can also understand requests such as directions to a doctor’s appointment and suggest restaurants along a route, taking dietary preferences into account. The feature is optional, and users can limit which apps Gemini accesses or switch it off. The global rollout starts today, excluding Switzerland, the European Economic Area, the UK and Nigeria; cars with Google built-in are due to get it in the coming months.

  • Gemini Personal Intelligence is rolling out to Android Auto.
  • It can use linked apps for tailored travel help and recommendations.
  • The rollout excludes the UK and several other regions for now.
