AI adoption drives demand to run VMs and containers together
The article argues that enterprises adopting AI need to run virtual machines and containers together, rather than maintain separate infrastructure stacks. It says this “VM-container divide” can complicate access to existing applications and data, waste computing capacity and make it harder to deploy and govern AI agents securely.
Nutanix’s Enterprise Cloud Index survey found that 85 per cent of polled IT executives believe AI is meaningfully accelerating their organisation’s container adoption, including 29 per cent who say it is doing so to a great extent. The article describes AI workloads as spanning GPUs, CPUs and existing virtualised systems, and presents a shared operating environment as a way to manage them together. It is a sponsored feature from Nutanix.
