How to find Ice Caves biome in Minecraft
Minecraft’s Ice Caves biome is a cold underground region added in the Winter 2026 update. Finding it can take exploration, but knowing which surface biomes and conditions favour its appearance can help players locate it.
Look beneath snowy areas such as Ice Spikes, Snowy Plains, Snowy Taigas and Frozen Oceans, especially near oceans; Ice Caves can also form beneath warmer regions such as Dappled Forest. High humidity makes them less likely, and on older worlds they can only generate in chunks that have not previously been loaded. With cheats enabled, players can use a command to find the nearest biome’s coordinates and teleport there; the caves contain exclusive ice crystals and icicles, as well as other icy blocks and hostile mobs including Frostbites.
