Indian Epic ‘Ramayana’ Lands at Sony Pictures for International Distribution

Sony Pictures will distribute Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part Indian mythological epic “Ramayana” internationally, while Dharma Productions will handle its Indian release. The deal gives the film a major global platform for an adaptation of a widely known Hindu epic, intended to reach audiences in several languages including English.
The story centres on Prince Rama, his wife Sita and the conflict with demon king Ravana, with Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi leading the cast. Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman will compose the score, while DNEG is providing visual effects; the first film is scheduled for release in November during Diwali.
