Judy Reyes To Debut Passion Project ‘Freestyle: A Love Story’ Theater Play In LA, Starring Justina Machado & James Martinez

Judy Reyes and her husband, George Valencia, have turned their plans for a documentary about freestyle music into a theatre production, Freestyle: A Love Story, which makes its Los Angeles debut at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre. The play celebrates the Latin hip-hop genre and the community and history around it, which Reyes says is important to preserve and share.

Justina Machado and James Martinez lead the Los Angeles cast, reuniting after playing husband and wife on One Day at a Time. Valencia created, directed and co-wrote the production with Lidia Ramirez; Reyes is an executive producer. Freestyle singers Judy Torres and K7 will perform, and audiences are encouraged to sing and dance. Proceeds will support the Sound of GOL Foundation and an all-Latina football club seeking training opportunities in the UK.
