Sony has released a trailer for "Jumanji: Open World," confirming it as the third and final instalment in the rebooted "Jumanji" franchise, with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan all reprising their roles. The film follows the 2017 and 2019 predecessors, which together grossed more than $1.7 billion worldwide, and continues the reboot's premise of teenagers whose avatars appear in a video-game world, itself a reworking of the original 1995 film starring Robin Williams.

Jake Kasdan returns to direct for a third consecutive time, working from a script he co-wrote with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, alongside producers Matt Tolmach, Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia. Supporting cast members Danny DeVito, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Marin Hinkle, Bebe Neuwirth, Lamorne Morris and Rhys Darby all return, joined by newcomers Dan Hildebrand and Jack Jewkes. Sony has shifted the release from 11 December to Christmas Day, placing it just after the 18 December releases of "Dune: Part Three" and "Avengers: Doomsday" rather than clashing head-on with them.

Sony has released a trailer for the third film in its rebooted Jumanji series, titled Jumanji: Open World. It brings back the core cast from the two previous instalments, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan, along with returning supporting actors and some new additions. Jake Kasdan, who directed the earlier two films, is back again, working from a script he co-wrote with regular collaborators Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg.

The franchise reimagines the 1995 Jumanji board game as a video game world, with teenage characters transported into adult avatars to navigate its challenges. The two previous entries, released in 2017 and 2019, were major box office successes, taking in over $1.7 billion combined, which underpins the studio's decision to continue the series.

The new film has been moved from an early December release to Christmas Day, placing it in direct competition with other major titles opening around the same time, including Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday. That scheduling shift is one reason the film is drawing attention now, ahead of its eventual release.
